Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair

Fig. 17  Cylinder Head Replacement

Refer to Fig. 17, for rocker arm assembly replacement.

1. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures. Disconnect

battery ground cable.

2. Remove cylinder head cover.
3. Remove power steering pump.
4. Remove all drive belts.
5. Loosen cooling fan mounting bolts and carefully place cooling fan into radiator fan shroud.
6. Remove water pump pulley.
7. Remove starter motor.
8. Using flywheel holder tool No. J38674, or equivalent, remove crankshaft pulley mounting bolt.
9. Remove crankshaft pulley and timing belt cover.

10. Using a screwdriver or a pair of pliers to release tension from spring and timing belt, remove timing belt.
11. Remove rocker arm assembly from engine.
12. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten to specifications.
13. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
