Throttle Full Open Switch: Description and Operation
Wide Open Throttle Switch (WOT)
PURPOSE
Provides idle and full throttle position signals to the ECM.
LOCATION
Connected to the throttle valve shaft in the throttle body assembly.
OPERATION
The switch is supplied with battery voltage at the center terminal.
When the throttle is at idle, current flows through the idle contacts to the ECM.
When the throttle is at partial throttle, no current flows through the switch.
When the throttle is at WOT, current flows through the WOT contacts to the ECM.
These inputs are entered into various ECM calculations such as ignition timing, injector pulse width and air injection control.
