Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair

1. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable and remove air cleaner from engine compartment.
3. Disconnect canister vacuum hose on thermal vacuum valve side.
4. Disconnect vacuum booster hose from intake manifold side.
5. Remove ignition wires, then the A/C compressor bracket.
6. Disconnect fuel pipe from throttle body fuel injection unit.
7. Remove engine harness clip, then the engine hanger.
8. Remove rocker arm cover nuts and reinforcements.
9. Remove rocker arm cover.

10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Before installing rocker arm cover, apply a small amount of RTV sealant at point where sealing area of head meets sealing area of intake

manifold.

b. Tighten to specifications.

11. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
