ABS Light: Description and Operation
Rear Wheel Antilock Brake System Only
The "Rr ABS" indicator lamp on the instrument panel comes on as a bulb check when the ignition switch is turned to ON. The rear wheel anti-lock brake
system (RWAL) system then conducts a system self-check. The lamp will stay on for about two seconds and then it will go out. If the system finds no
faults, the lamp will stay out. If the system finds a fault, the lamp will come back on and stay on.
If "Rr ABS" lamp comes on steadily when a system fault is detected by the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). It can be triggered to flash out
diagnostic trouble codes.
The "BRAKE" indicator lamp on the instrument panel does all of the above, as well as monitoring non-RWAL brake conditions.
