Tie Rod: Service and Repair

NOTE:  Before removing the assembly, remove the wheel and tire assembly.

REMOVAL

1. Detach the nut and cotter pin,from the center track rod then disconnect the outer track rod assembly at the center track rod using a J-36831 Special

Service Tool (SST) remover.

CAUTION: Be careful not to break the ball joint boot.

2. Remove the nut and cotter pin from the knuckle arm then remove the outer track rod assembly from the knuckle arm using a  J-36831 remover.

CAUTION:  Be careful not to break the ball joint boot.
