Electronic Brake Control Module: Service Precautions

CAUTION: 

-

Do not remove or apply power to the EBCM with the battery cables connected.

-

There are no replaceable parts inside the EBCM; it can only be replaced as an assembly. Do not replace the EBCM unless so instructed in the
diagnosis chart.

NOTE:

-

Always turn the ignition OFF before removing or connecting battery cables, fuses or connectors.

The EBCM requires its own clean, dedicated ground. If other accessories are connected to this ground, the EBCM may be damaged.

Aftermarket accessory wiring must not be routed over or next to the EBCM. Electrical interference from cellular phones, stereo amplifiers,
etc., can affect the EBCM operation.

Some test procedures require you to leave the ignition switch ON while test procedures are performed. If this drains the battery, you may get
false readings. If vehicle system voltage gets low, connect a battery charger and apply a slow charge while testing.
