1996-97 RODEO (UC) 3.2L V6 ENGINE INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT INDICATE "F" (FULL) WHEN FUEL TANK IS
FULL
This Service Bulletin supersedes SB97-02-L001, issued 8/97 to include parts information on the new, improved fuel gauge sending unit. Please discard
Service Bulletin SB97-02-L001.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
1996-97 Rodeo (UC) models equipped with 3.2L V6 engine.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Some affected vehicles may experience a condition in which the instrument panel fuel gauge needle will not move up to the "F" (FULL) mark after the
fuel tank is completely filled. A correctly operating fuel gauge will normally reach the "F" mark within 3 minutes. This fuel gauge inaccuracy only
affects the reading from 1/2 full or higher. The reading from 1/2 full or lower is accurate and does not affect the operation of the low fuel indicator light.
The cause of this condition may be due to sulfur contamination of the resistive segments in the fuel gauge sending unit mounted in the fuel tank.
To repair this condition, replace the existing fuel gauge sending unit with a new, improved fuel gauge sending unit (Part No. 8-97184-577-0), in
accordance with Section 6C1A of the appropriate Workshop Manual.
