Brake Bleeding: Service and Repair
System Flushing

WHEN TO FLUSH THE SYSTEM

Installation of New Parts - The entire hydraulic system should be thoroughly flushed with clean brake fluid whenever new parts are installed in
the hydraulic system.

Contaminated Fluid - Flushing is recommended if there is any doubt as to the grade of fluid in the system or if fluid which contains the slightest
trace of mineral oil has been used. 

WARNING: All rubber parts, including hoses, that have contacted contaminated fluid must be replaced before flushing the system. Any
contaminated rubber components that are not replaced can cause the brakes to fail, possibly resulting in a collision and serious injury or death.

PROCEDURE

Flushing is performed at each bleeder valve in the same manner as the bleeding operation. Refer to "Bleeding the Brake Hydraulic System" in this
section. Continue bleeding fluid at each wheel until the fluid runs clear.

Check master cylinder fluid level frequently and replenish if required. When flushing is completed at all bleeder valves, make certain the master
cylinder reservoir is filled to proper level.
