Wheels: Service and Repair

1. Remove the wheel lug nuts after loosening the wheel nuts by approximately 180° (half a rotation) and then raise the vehicle.
2. Take off either the steel or aluminum wheel cap.
3. Remove the wheel and tire from the vehicle.

4. To install, follow the removal steps in the reverse order, noting the following:

CAUTION:  Before installing wheels, remove any corrosion build-up on the wheel mounting surface and brake disc mounting surface by scraping
and wire brushing. Installing wheels without good metal-to-metal contact at mounting surfaces can cause wheel nuts to loosen, which can later
allow a wheel to come off while the vehicle is moving.

Wheel nuts must be tightened to the proper torque to avoid bending wheel or brake disc.

Tighten the wheel lug nuts to 118 Nm (87 ft. lbs) in numerical order.

Install valve caps on the valve stems to keep dust and water out.
