Front Steering Knuckle: Service and Repair

NOTE: - Before removing the knuckle, perform the following:

Raise the vehicle and support the frame with suitable safety stands.

Remove wheel and tire assembly. 

^

Remove the hub assembly.

^

Remove the outer track rod from the knuckle. 

^

Remove the speed sensor (If equipped with antilock brake system) from the knuckle.

REMOVAL

1. Remove the torsion bar by loosening the torsion bar by height control arm adjust bolt.
2. Detach the wheel speed sensor (if equipped with ABS).
3. Take off the back plate.

4. Press out the lower ball joint using a J-29107 Special Service Tool (SST) remover.
