Transmission Mode Switch

Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Switch (Auto Only)

The Park/Neutral position (PNP) switch indicates to the Engine Control Module (ECM) when the transmission is in park, neutral or drive. This
information is used for the exhaust gas recirculation, and the idle air control valve operation.

Vehicle should not be driven with PNP switch disconnected, as idle quality will be affected and a possible false diagnostic trouble code (DTC)
24 (vehicle speed sensor).

The PNP switch is part of the neutral/start and backup light switch assembly mounted on the transmission. See CHART C1A for PNP switch
