Spray sealant material into the inner edges of the tailgate hinge mounting areas. Make certain that all areas are sealed as shown in Figure 7. All
body seams must be sealed to prevent dust intrusion.

NOTE

Sealant material is PERMATEX Heavy Duty Rubberized Undercoating (Part No. 135EA) manufactured by Loctite Corporation. Purchase this
product through automotive parts or body shop retail outlets. Follow the directions printed on the can for proper usage. This material should be
applied in two coats for maximum effectiveness using a straw applicator to direct the spray.

Using the position outlines made prior to hinge removal, reinstall the top and bottom right-hand tailgate hinges to the body. Tighten the six bolts to
25 ft.-lb. Repeat this step for the top and bottom left-hand tailgate hinges.

14.

Reinstall the right-hand tailgate assembly to the top and bottom tailgate hinges. Tighten the four bolts to 25 ft.-lb. Repeat this step for the left-hand
tailgate assembly.

15.

Reinstall the tailgate main weatherstrip. Check, and if necessary, correct the tailgate assembly alignment as described in the appropriate Workshop
Manual.

16.

Reinstall the right- and left-hand tailgate trim panels.

17.

Install the four (4) tailgate hinge seals listed in the "Parts Information" section of this Service Bulletin as follows:

NOTE

Do not remove the paper backing on the tailgate hinge seals until the seals are in position.

a. Slip the appropriate tailgate hinge seal over each tailgate hinge, with the adhesive side of the seal facing the tailgate assembly (Figure 8).
