Compressor Clutch Relay: Description and Operation
A/C Circuit
PURPOSE
Allows the ECM control over compressor clutch engagement.
LOCATION
In the fuse/relay center in the engine compartment.
OPERATION
When ECM receives the A/C request signal from the switch, it raises the idle speed, changes the timing map and air fuel mixture. It does this prior
to providing the ground circuit to the relay, thus reducing engine rpm variation when the compressor is engaged.
