TROOPER (UX) BUMPER FINISH REPAIR

AFFECTED VEHICLES

1992-on Trooper (UX) "S" models.

SERVICE INFORMATION

On some affected vehicles, environmental conditions may cause the front or rear bumper paint to discolor in the side corner areas.

This Service Bulletin contains procedures for repairing the bumper finish on affected vehicles. It is very important to use only the materials and
procedures specified in this Service Procedure, in order to prevent future discoloration.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

WARNING
Approved respiratory equipment must be used during the following procedures. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for equipment and
material use.

1.

Remove the bumper assembly as described in the appropriate Workshop Manual.

2.

Remove center stripe trim tape from bumper (front bumper only).

3.

Prepare the outer bumper surfaces as follows:

a.

Wash with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly, then allow to dry

b.

Lightly sand all outer bumper surfaces with 400-600 grit sandpaper.

c.

Remove sanding residue with a cloth saturated with BASF/Glasurit 541-30 Universal Plastic Cleaner. Dry with a clean, dry cloth.

4.

Apply two thin wet coats of BASF/Glasurit 934-0 Plastic Adhesion Primer to all outer bumper surfaces. Allow to dry for 15 minutes.

5.

Apply bumper paint as follows:

a.

Apply a coat of BASF/Glasurit IS-018 Base Coat and allow to dry for 5 to 10 minutes. Then apply a second coat and allow to dry for 15
minutes.

b.

Mix BASF/Glasurit 923-55 Semi-Gloss Clear Coat with BASF/Glasurit 521-111 Elastifier, following the manufacturer's instructions. Apply
one coat and allow to flash dry for 5 to 10 minutes. Then apply a second coat and bake at 140~ F for 30 minutes (or dry at room temperature
for 6 to 8 hours).

6.

Install new bumper center stripe trim tape (front bumper only).

7.

Reinstall the bumper assembly as described in the appropriate Workshop Manual.
