All Trooper II (KT) models.

SERVICE INFORMATION

Speedometer cable noise and/or fluctuation of the speedometer gauge needle may be caused by excessive cable length. This Service Bulletin contains the
procedure for correcting this condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1.

Disconnect the speedometer cable from the speedometer bushing.

2.

Some models may have tie straps securing the speedometer cable to accessory cables and to the

white clips located on the firewall. Remove the straps if so equipped.

3.

Remove speedometer cable from the appropriate clips, as necessary to move the cable to the front of the vehicle, over the grille.

4.

Remove the flexible speedometer cable from the cable housing.

5.

Grind 1 to 2 mm from the flexible cable at the speedometer head end. Round off the corners. The finished length of the cable from the tip to the
end of the squared area should be 21 mm. See Figure 1.

6.

Reinstall the flexible cable into the cable housing. Keep the cable housing as straight as possible.

NOTE Be sure the washer is installed on the speedometer bushing end of the flexible cable.

7.

Reroute and reinstall speedometer cable.

8.

If necessary, reinstall tie strap to secure speedometer cable to accessory cables. Do not reinstall tie strap to white clips located on the firewall.

9.

Test drive vehicle to check for proper speedometer operation.
