MUA TRANSMISSION TRANSFER CASE OIL LEAKAGE

AFFECTED VEHICLES

Trooper II (KT), Rodeo (UC), Pickup (TF) and Amigo (TC) 4-wheel drive models equipped with MUA transmission.

SERVICE INFORMATION

Transfer case oil leakage may result from the front output shaft oil seal becoming damaged during transfer case installation. Installing tape around the
output shaft before transfer case installation will protect the oil seal from becoming damaged.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1.

Before installing the transfer case, install a layer of black electrician's tape around the front output shaft, from the splines to the end of the shaft.
See Figure 1.

2.

Remove the tape from the output shaft after installing the transfer case.

3.

Follow instructions in the appropriate Workshop Manual for completing transfer case installation.
