1.

Disconnect the battery ground cable and remove the battery retainer.

2.

Disconnect the windshield washer tube from the hood.

3.

Remove the anti-theft horn bracket from the dash panel.

4.

Remove the cruise control actuator cable clamp bolt from the dash panel.

5.

Remove the A/C low pressure pipe clamp bolt from the dash panel.

6.

Disconnect the A/C high pressure pipe from the dash panel clamp.

7.

Disconnect the A/T vent hose (A/T equipped models only).

8.

Disconnect the harness connector to the mass airflow (MAF) sensor. Remove the air cleaner cover with the MAF sensor attached and the intake
duct.

9.

Remove the EVAP canister and EVAP canister bracket.

10.

Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum booster.

11.

Remove the master cylinder from the vacuum booster with the brake pipes attached.

12.

Disconnect the left front brake pipe assembly from the retaining clips (11 total) that secure it to the engine compartment.

NOTE

The left front brake pipe assembly can easily identified by a white band painted on the outside of the pipe.

13.

Raise the vehicle and remove the left front wheel and inner mud flap. Lower the vehicle.

14.

Disconnect the left front brake pipe assembly from the hydraulic unit and the left front brake flexible hose. Remove and discard the original left
front brake pipe assembly.

15.

Connect the 2-way connector (Part No. 9-09227-005-0) to the new short left front brake pipe assembly (Part No. 8-97180-559-0). Tighten the
fitting to 12 lb. ft. (16 Nm).

16.

Connect the new short left front brake pipe assembly to the left front brake flexible hose. Tighten the fitting to 12 lb. ft. (16 Nm).

17.

Connect the appropriate new long left front brake pipe assembly (see Parts Information section) to the hydraulic unit. Tighten the fitting to 12 lb.
ft. (16 Nm). Secure the new long left front brake pipe assembly to the engine compartment using the 11 retaining clips.

18.

Join the long and short left front brake pipe assemblies using the 2-way connector. Tighten the connector fitting to 12 lb. ft. (16 Nm).

19.

Install the master cylinder to the vacuum booster. Tighten the master cylinder retaining nuts to 113 lb. in. (13 Nm).

IMPORTANT!

Be sure to replace the two master cylinder gaskets with new ones (part No. 8-97035-691-0).

20.

Connect the vacuum hose to the vacuum booster.

21.

Install the EVAP canister bracket and EVAP canister.

22.

Install the intake duct and air cleaner cover. Reconnect the MAF sensor harness connector.

23.

Connect the A/T vent hose (A/T equipped models only).

24.

Connect the A/C high pressure pipe to the dash panel clamp.

25.

Install the A/C low pressure pipe clamp bolt to the dash panel.

26.

Install the cruise control actuator cable clamp bolt to the dash panel.

27.

Install the anti-theft horn bracket to the dash panel.

28.

Connect the windshield washer hose.
