Oil Pressure Gauge: Description and Operation

With the starter switch in ON or START the oil pressure warning light will go on and the oil pressure gauge will show low oil pressure until the engine
is started and normal oil pressure is obtained.

If the engine oil pressure falls below normal oil pressure and does not increase, the oil pressure switch will close and the oil pressure sending unit will
decrease in resistance. The oil pressure warning light will go on and stay on and the oil pressure gauge will show low oil pressure.

The oil pressure gauge consists of two intersecting coils wound around a permanent magnet rotor (see engine coolant temperature gauge for operation).
