1999 VEHICROSS (VX) TAILGATE CHECK ARM SQUEAKING SOUND

AFFECTED VEHICLES
Some 1999 VehiCROSS (VX) models

SERVICE INFORMATION

Condition:

Tailgate check arm may emit a squeaking sound whenever the tailgate is moved to the open or closed position.

Correction:

To correct the squeaking condition, use the procedure outlined in this bulletin.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1.

Open the tailgate as far as possible.

2.

Using a clean rag, remove the factory-applied grease from top and bottom surfaces of tailgate check arm. (Figure 1)

NOTE

Do not use a degreaser. Simply wipe the grease off with a cloth.

3.

To protect from over-spray, cover the surrounding areas of the check arm with a rag or equivalent.

NOTE

Pay special attention to the bumper cladding, immediately below, and the interior panels, adjacent to the check arm.
