ISSUE:
Passive restraint motor winch "lock-up".
ACTION:
A revised control module (DBC 10729) was introduced at VIN 659601. This module is interchangeable with the original control module, (DBC 10729),
fitted from VIN 582139. Prior to VIN 582139, install module DBC 2861.
NOTE:
The new control module will cause the massive motor winch to pause for 1.6 seconds before moving to the forward docking position after the ignition is
turned off.
On vehicles prior to VIN 659601, the passive restraint system should be tested for proper operation using the following procedure:
^
Sit in the drivers seat with the doors closed and the ignition key removed. Both belts should be in the un-restrained (forward) position.

Insert the ignition key and turn the key to position II. The belts should move to the restrained position within four seconds. The seat belt warning
light should be off.

Open and close both front doors one at a time. Both belts should move to the un-restrained position when the adjacent door is opened and back to
the restrained position when the door is closed.

Apply the parking brake and move the gearshift lever to the Reverse position. Open and close both front doors one at a time. The drivers belt
should not move. The passengers belt should move to the un-restrained position when the passenger door is opened and back to the restrained
position when it is closed.

If the passive belts operate correctly, DO NOT replace the motor winch assembly. Install ONLY control module DBC 10729.

If the passive belts do not operate correctly, diagnose the fault using JDS and if necessary replace the defective motor winch assembly and install
control module DBC 10729.
NOTE:
Lubricate the guide rail with Gleitmo lubricant (JAG 311) if the customer complains of the winch assembly producing a "chattering" noise.
