Inspect the stator shaft and determine if the seal is damaged or if no seal is present at the location shown in illustration 1.

*If no transmission input shaft seal is installed, install a new seal.

5.

Install the transmission torque converter.

6.

Install the automatic transmission (see Global Technical Reference GTR Workshop Manual, section: 307-01, SRO 44.20.01).

7.

Use WDS to carry out a transmission fluid level check (see Global Technical Reference GTR Workshop Manual, section: 307-01, General
Procedures).

8.

With WDS already connected, clear all DTCs from the Transmission Control Module (TCM).*

Note:

Anytime an automatic transmission is removed from a S-TYPE vehicle, check that this seal is in place before reinstalling the transmission in
the vehicle. If a seal is present and is undamaged contact the Technical Helpline for repair guidance.
