Sovereign L6-4.0L (1991)
- Remove the rotary transmission switch/cable assembly/harness (1,2) complete. Reposition the switch assembly away from the work area.
- Remove the selector cable bracket clamp.
- Place a drain tin below the dipstick tube, and disconnect the union, drain the remaining fluid and fit a dummy plug to the sump.
- Remove the clamp securing the transmission cooling pipes to the transmission, disconnect the pipes and fit a dummy plug to the apertures.
Torque Converter Bolts
- Remove the blanking plug from the torque converters securing bolt access aperture (1), and remove the crankshaft/drive plate securing bolts, turning
the crankshaft for access to remove each bolt.
- Lower the engine/transmission unit using MS53B ensuring that the engine does not foul the steering rack.
Bell Housing Bolts
- Remove the bell housing bolts and remove the transmission (1).
Flex Plate Bolts
- Remove the drive plate securing bolts (1).
- Remove the drive plate (2).
