INTERMITTENT LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT OPERATION
To eliminate intermittent low oil pressure warning light operation, a revised Oil Pressure Transmitter is incorporated on XJ6 3.6 vehicles commencing
from VIN 527217. (Part No. C 46272 has replaced original Part No. DAC 8817).
The effect of using this unit will be to indicate high oil pressure under virtually all normal conditions. Should the actual oil pressure fall to 10 PSI, a red
warning square will be displayed.
The revised Oil Pressure Transmitter installation procedure is as follows:
Installation Procedure:
1.
Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2.
Back off the alternator belt adjustment.
3.
Loosen the alternator adjusting bracket pivot bolt.
4.
Remove the adjuster and or bolt.
5.
Remove the alternator mounting bolt and move the alternator forward.
6.
Loosen the Oil Pressure Transmitter clamp and pull back the boot. Disconnect the Lucar connector.
NOTE:
It may be necessary to loosen the transmitter clamp for above.
7.
Replace the Oil Pressure Transmitter with the revised unit.
8.
Reinstall remaining components in reverse order.
9.
Adjust the alternator belt to 100 lb. tension.
