Steering Gear: Service and Repair
1.
Center front wheels, then raise and support vehicle.
2.
Remove nut securing outer tie rod to steering arm.
3.
Using separator tool No. JD100 or equivalent, disconnect steering arm and tie rod.

Remove bolt (1) and nut (2) securing lower column (3) to steering rack pinion.
5.
Disconnect and plug hoses and lines from steering rack.
6.
Drain power steering fluid and plug connections.
7.
Loosen nuts and bolts securing rack to front crossmember.
8.
Disconnect lower column from rack pinion. Remove rack securing nuts and bolts.
9.
Remove rack from vehicle.
10.
Reverse procedure to install. Tighten to specifications and bleed steering system.
