Jaguar Cars Exports Ltd. has determined that on a range of 1988 Jaguar XJ6 and Vanden Plas 3.6 vehicles the possibility exists that due to stress
corrosion certain front suspension lower spring pan fixings may fail which may allow the vehicle's front suspension to settle onto the bump stop on one
side or the other.
AFFECTED VIN RANGE
DEALER VEHICLE CAMPAIGN LIST:
"Dealer Campaign List" not included listing affected vehicles which, according to our records to date were invoiced to you. You will be receiving
additional vehicles that do not appear on this list. We anticipate affected vehicles to be in the distribution system for the next several weeks. Please check
all new vehicle shipments and ensure that any new vehicle affected by this recall is repaired prior to delivery.
If any vehicle listed under dealer stock has, in fact, been retailed, the dealer must contact the owner and advise him to return the vehicle for the necessary
recall repair. All new vehicles must be modified before delivery.
If a list is not enclosed, then, according to our records, you did not receive any of the affected vehicles.
The occasion may arise where you are asked to perform recall campaign work on a vehicle that was not invoiced to you (i.e. transient owner, etc.). In
such a case, normal procedure should be followed.
OWNER NOTIFICATION:
Commencing March 2, 1988 (Campaign Launch Date), all owners of record will be sent recall notifications by first class mail, together with a letter
advising them of this condition. (A copy of the owner's letter is shown.) They will be asked to contact their selling dealer or nearest authorized Jaguar
dealer if more convenient and make an appointment to have their vehicle attended to. They will also be asked to sign and turn over the "Campaign
Claim" form to you after the work has been performed.
