Valve Body: Service and Repair

1.

Raise and support vehicle.

2.

Remove plug on rear of pan and drain fluid.

3.

Remove intermediate pipe to front pipe clamp and sealing ring, then disconnect pipes and position aside.

4.

Remove oil pan attaching bolts and clamps, then the oil pan and gasket.

5.

Remove oil filter attaching bolts and the oil filter.

6.

Remove valve body attaching bolts and carefully lower valve body from transmission.

7.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Prior to installing valve body, pull kickdown cable to lift cam to a vertical position. Locate throttle valve behind the throttle valve cam and

connect the selector quadrant into the manual valve.

b. Install selector linkage setting gauge tool No. JD 103 or equivalent, between valve body and throttle valve pin, then install valve body. Do not

tighten valve body bolts at this time.

c. Align valve body, ensure no pressure is applied to kickdown cable, then tighten valve body to case attaching bolts to specifications.
d. Distance from throttle pin to housing should measure 11.5 mm.
