SECTION:

WATER PUMP-COOLANT LEAKS           No: 4

Model:

SEDANS         Date: MARCH, 1990

KEYPOINTS:

HOSE CLAMP TIGHTENING

Coolant along the lower edge of the water pump may be due to leakage from coolant hose connections.

Be sure to inspect the coolant hose connections, especially at the water pump, cylinder head transfer pipe and thermostat housing, for proper hose clamp
torque.

NOTE:

A trace of coolant around the water pump vent holes is the normal result of "venting" and does not indicate a leaking pump seal.

Coolant Hose Clamp Torque

Hose Clamps with 6 mm hex screw heads: 21 in.lbs. Hose Clamps with 8 mm hex screw heads: 36 in.lbs.
