ISSUE:
Propshaft vibration at 30-50 MPH on 1990/1991 MY Sedans up to VIN 646879.
This bulletin supercedes Technical Bulletin 47-4.
ACTION:
At VIN 646880, a newly designed propshaft has been introduced to correct the vibration condition identified above.
INITIAL CHECKS:

Road test (with the customer in the vehicle) to verify the complaint. Note road speed at which vibration occurs. Then coast in neutral down
through the noted speed range. If the vibration is still present, the propshaft is the cause.

Centralize the engine on its front mounts. Make sure that the transmission output flange is in the center of the propshaft tunnel.

Adjust the rear engine mounting crossmember to centralize the transmission mounting stud with the inspection hole in the crossmember.

Check all drive flange and drivetrain mounting bolts for proper torque.

Repeat road test, if an unacceptable vibration is still present repair as follows:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:

Install propshaft EBC9104.
^
Set the center mounting:
-
with the 2 mounting bolts loose, push the center mounting as far to the right as possible.
-
then pull it back 1/16" (approx. 2 mm) and tighten the mounting bolts.
^
Road test the vehicle and verify the repair.
