Fuel Tank Selector Switch: Description and Operation
Fuel Supply Delivery
The XJ6 has two fuel tanks, one in each rear fender. They are connected to a solenoid change-over valve which directs fuel to pump from either tank, as
selected by fuel tank switch. Excess fuel passes through a fuel pressure regulator, a fuel cooler, and is returned to fuel tank from which it was taken, by a
fuel return valve.
When the dash mounted fuel tank switch is pressed, it will lock into one of two positions. IN position selects left tank. OUT position selects the right
tank.
When left tank is selected, no voltage applied to fuel solenoid circuit.
When right tank is selected, battery voltage is applied to solenoid circuit.
