Corrosion Prevention - Wheels & Hubs - Grease Contact Surfaces

Issue:

Applying a light coating of high melting point grease every time a wheel is reinstalled, will prevent the possibility of corrosion that could build up
between wheels and hubs. The grease will also ensure that a wheel can be easily removed later.

Action:

Wipe the contact faces of both the wheel and hub clean of all accumulated dirt before reinstalling the wheel.

Apply a thin film of grease to the hub and the contact face of the wheel, before installing the wheel on the hub. High melting point lithium-based
grease should be used - such as Shell Alvania FP-2, Castrol MP (Multipurpose) or equivalent products.

Do not apply more than a thin film of grease, since the excess will be flung outwards towards the wheel rim. This condition could result in customer
complaints if the grease is visible through the wheel spokes, or has contaminated the tire side walls.

Grease should not be applied to the wheel studs or nuts.
