CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation:
This Technical Bulletin is to consolidate Special Service Messages (SSM) 30660, 30797, 33183, and 36424 concerning power assist steering (PAS)
leaks and heavy or noisy operation.
Action:
In the event of a customer concern of any of the above conditions, follow the Diagnostic Procedure outlined in this Bulletin below. All repairs are to be
carried out following normal warranty (if applicable) policy and procedures.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE:
IDENTIFYING POWER STEERING LEAKS (INCLUDING NOISE DUE TO LEAKS)
NOTE:
Prior to deciding to change any part it should be clearly identified where the leak point is:
1.
Clean off the oil residue and run the power steering system to confirm the leak.
NOTE:
It should never be necessary to change both the power steering pump and the high pressure feed hose.
