Exterior Front Door Handle Hard to Open - Deflection Of Link Rod - Replace Link Rod

Remove and destroy Bulletin XT501-28, dated 03/05.
Replace with this Bulletin.
Revisions are marked with a bar and asterisks.

Issue:

Some 2002 MY-ON X-TYPE vehicles may exhibit a condition where the exterior front door handle may become stiff and eventually become
inoperative.

Cause:

Link rod between the exterior door latch and door handle deflects.

Action:

In case of a customer complaint of the above condition, install a new link rod as outlined below.

1.

Remove the exterior front door handle (see Global Technical Reference GTR Workshop Manual, section: 501-14, SRO 76.58.01).

2.

Install a new exterior door handle to door latch link rod.

3.

Install the exterior front door handle (see Global Technical Reference GTR Workshop Manual, section: 501-14).
