Remove and destroy Bulletin XT501-21, dated 10/04.
Replace with this Bulletin.

Issue:
Some 2002-05 MY X-TYPE vehicles with CLASSIC STYLE FRONT SEATS ONLY, within the above VIN range, may exhibit premature wear to the
outer bolster. The wire that supports the seat backrest outer bolster puts pressure on the seat cover when the customer enters and exits the vehicle.
The outer bolster support wire must be removed from the seat backrest frame before installing a new seat backrest cover to address this concern.
Action:
In case of a customer complaint premature wear, that requires the installation of new seat backrest cover to resolve the complaint, remove the outer
bolster support wire before installing the new seat backrest cover to seat backrest frame. Follow the modification procedure below.
MODIFICATION PROCEDURE
Note:
Perform this modification before installing the new seatback cover.
1.
Remove the seat backrest pad.
2.
Disconnect the side airbag electrical connector.
3.
Displace the retaining clip for the side airbag harness from the seat backrest.
4.
Disconnect the recline motor electrical connector.
5.
Displace the retaining clip for the recline motor harness from the seat backrest.
6.
Remove the seat backrest securing screws and the seat backrest.
