DTC P1582 Stored - Flight Recorder Data - Clarification

Issue:

This bulletin provides additional information regarding the interpretation of "flight recorder" data. To clarify any confusion there may be with DTC
P1582 (Flight recorder), the following information applies:

DTC P1582 (Flight recorder) data is stored if any one of the five conditions listed below occur:

1.

Inertia switch activated.

2.

Throttle failure causes default into limp home mode.

3.

Engine starts and stumbles.

4.

Engine fails to start.

5.

Engine stall.

If DTC P1582 is the only code present, it does not necessarily mean that a failure has occurred - it is more likely to be the result of a hesitation/stall event
as detailed in conditions 3, 4 and 5 above.

It is accepted that DTC P1582 will be present with a throttle/inertia switch failure. However, it is there to notify that the ECM data recorder has recorded
data. Under these circumstances there will be associated DTCs present for the failure that occurred.

Note:

DTC P1582 cannot be cleared in the normal way using DTC monitor on WDS.

Action:

To clear DTC P1582 follow the workshop procedure outlined below:

PROCEDURE FOR CLEARING DTC P1582

1.

Navigate to "Vehicle Configuration Main Menu" in WDS.

2.

Navigate to "Special Application".

3.

Navigate to "ECM Data Recorder".

4.

Follow on-screen instructions.

5.

After down loading relevant information at "Select Option Screen", select "EXIT". Print a copy and place in the customer's vehicle file.

6.

Do you wish to clear the "Flight recorder" data stored, select the check mark.

7.

Follow on screen instructions.

8.

Navigate to "Vehicle Configuration Main Menu".
