Cooling System - "Bow Spring" Hose Clamps Introduced
ISSUE:
An improved design radiator hose clamp has been introduced in production from the VINs listed below.
Sedan Range
VIN 706502
XJS Range
VIN 195137
This "bow spring" hose clamp requires special installation and must be tightened to a specified torque.
ACTION:

When fitting "bow spring" hose clamps, the center of the "bow spring" must be at a 5 o'clock (150 0 angle) position relative to the center of the screw
housing as shown in Illustration 1.

"Bow spring" hose clamps compensate for the loss of tightening force as the hose ages.

Routine retightening of the hose clamp is not required.

Hose clamps of this design must be tightened to a torque of 1.9 - 2.6 lb. ft C2.5 - 3.5 Nm).
NOTE:
"Bow Spring" hose clamps are not used on the radiator side of Sedan Range lower hoses.
