Camshaft and Valve Clearance - Revisions

MODEL: All 6.0L V12 1995 MY

DATE: 5/95

ISSUE:

The camshafts of all 1995 MY V12 engines have been revised from the following engine numbers.

XJ12 Sedan

From engine number 8E 11129

XJS (6.0L) Range

From engine number 8D 12334

The camshaft lobe base circle has been increased in diameter by 0.002 in (0.05 mm). The revised camshaft lobe profile does not change valve lift or
overlap. Valve clearance for engines with the revised camshafts must be set to 0.010 in - 0.014 in (0.30 mm - 0.35 mm).

ACTION:

If valve adjustment is required on a 6.0L V12 engine, use the following procedure to positively identify the correct valve clearance.

VALVE CLEARANCE IDENTIFICATION PROCEDURE

Identify the camshaft by the part number on the camshaft front face.

Refer to the table in this bulletin to identify the required valve clearance specification.

Adjust the valve clearance only to the values specified in the table.

NOTE:

Do not use the revised valve clearance settings on engines produced before the engine numbers listed above.

Do not fit revised camshafts to engines produced before the engine numbers listed above. Camshafts for these engines will continue to be
available.
