Reconnect the intermediate exhaust pipe to the downpipe and align and tighten the clamp.

Lower the vehicle, reconnect the battery negative cable, and reset the clock. 

XJ12 Models

1.

Place vehicle on lift. Disconnect the battery negative cable.

2.

Raise the vehicle and remove the underfloor catalytic converter section of the exhaust system.

3.

Lower the vehicle and cover the fenders. Align tool set MS53 on the fender channels and with the rear lifting eyes of the engine. Tighten the nuts
of the support hooks to support the engine.

4.

After raising the vehicle, remove the center mounting bolt (illustration 2) and the rebound washer from the transmission rear mount.

5.

Position suitable wooden blocks between a jack and the rear mounting bracket. Raise the jack, so that in its almost fully extended position, it
supports the rear mounting bracket tightly against the body.

Remove the 4 nuts and washers that retain the mounting bracket (illustration 2).

7.

Carefully lower the jack until the tension in the spring is released. Lower the jack until the bracket, spring and spacers can be removed.

8.

Remove the bush from the bracket.

9.

Remove the peg and the upper spring cup from the transmission. Discard the upper and lower rubber spring seats.

10.

Clean the bracket, the spring, and the adjoining faces.

CAUTION: 

Oil and grease must not be allowed to contaminate the replacement bush.

11.

Install the replacement peg with the upper spring cup on the transmission. Torque the peg to 67.5 - 81.5 lb ft (90 - 110 Nm).

12.

Install the replacement bush on the mounting bracket.

13.

Install new upper and lower rubber spring seats on the spring.

14.

Align the spring on the mounting bracket. Align the bracket and spacers to the body and support the assembly with the jack.
