VCM CHANGE
Beginning with the 1989 M.Y. on XJ6 3.6 vehicles, the VCM operation has been revised.
The new VCM operation is as follows:
^
If two failures occur simultaneously, the two warning symbols and messages will alternately flash every two seconds. An asterisk (*) will also
appear at the side of the message, indicating that more than one fault exists.
^
If one of the failure is a brake failure, a red border will be displayed around all warning symbols except the anti-lock failure symbol. The anti-lock
failure symbol is surrounded by an amber border.
^
To delete any VCM message on the written display, press the "CLEAR" button. The VCM will display trip computer information until another
fault warning is displayed.
^
When the "CLEAR" button is pressed while either a coolant level low, bulb failure, circuit failure or washer fluid low symbols are being
displayed, the written message and symbol will be temporarily deleted. In addition, an asterisk (*) will appear indicating that a fault exists.
^
Pressing the VCM button when a fault exists will override any trip computer message and display the original VCM fault symbol.
^
If trip computer information is being displayed and a new fault occurs, the trip computer information will be deleted and the new fault warning
displayed. To display the trip computer information again, press the "CLEAR" button once.
