Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair
Remove/Refit

Brake Master Cylinder

- Disconnect the electrical leads from the master cylinder cap.
- Remove the reservoir filler cap and float assembly.
- Carefully drain the fluid from the float chamber.
- Using a syringe, carefully drain the fluid from the reservoir.
- Undo and remove the brake pipe unions from the master cylinder.
- Fit plugs to the pipes and cylinder.
- Remove the two bolts and spring washers securing the master cylinder to the power servo.
- Remove the master cylinder, take care not to drip any brake fluid onto the paint work.
- Position the new master cylinder, and connect the pipe unions, do not fully tighten.
- Position the master cylinder to the power booster. Secure with the two bolts and spring washers.
- Tighten the pipe unions.
- Fill the master cylinder fluid reservoir with fluid to the correct specification.
- Bleed brake system.
