Fuel Pressure Regulator: Testing and Inspection
CAUTION:
Observe all fire hazard precautions detailed in FUEL SYSTEMS / SERVICE PRECAUTIONS, when working on open fuel systems.
Fuel system MUST be depressurized before disconnecting any fuelling component.
Fuel Pressure Regulator And Fuel Rail
1.
Depressurize fuel system. See: Fuel Filter/Fuel Pressure Release
2.
Connect fuel pressure gauge. See: Fuel Pressure/Testing and Inspection
3.
Run engine and note pressure.
4.
Disconnect vacuum hose to return (left hand) fuel pressure regulator. Fuel pressure should increase.
5.
Reconnect vacuum hose.
6.
Stop engine and note pressure. Should hold pressure.
7.
If pressure begins to drop, pinch fuel return line while pressure is dropping. If this stops pressure drop, regulator is leaking.
