Hose Clips on Reservoir-to-Pump Hose
ISSUE:
On 1996 MY 4.0L Sedan Range vehicles from VIN 776647, the specification of the hose clamps that retain the hose leading from the power steering
reservoir to the power steering pump has been revised.
The spring band style clamp is now replaced by a worm drive clamp at each end of the hose (Illustration 1). This change provides an increase in
clamping load, to overcome concerns of hose joint leaks, particularly at the connection to the pump.
ACTION:
Only in the case of a customer complaint of fluid leakage at either point on 1995-96 MY Sedan Range vehicles from VIN 720001-776646, replace the
existing spring band clamp with a worm drive clamp (JHC 400401).
Torque the worm drive clamp to 3.5 Nm (31 lb. in.)
