Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Renewal Procedure 

1. Open the hood and fit a wing cover.
2. Open the trunk and remove the battery cover.
3. Disconnect the battery ground lead.
4. Disconnect the throttle position sensor multi-plug.
5. Undo and remove the throttle position sensor to throttle housing securing screws.

NOTE:  Remove the securing screw towards the front of the vehicle first.

6. Displace and remove the throttle position sensor retaining plate.
7. Remove the throttle position sensor.
8. Clean the throttle housing mating face.
9. Fit and fully seat the new throttle sensor to the throttle housing,  making sure it engages correctly on the spindle.

10. Fit and align the retaining plate.
11. Fit the securing screw towards the rear of the vehicle. Do not fully tighten at this stage.
12. Fit and tighten the securing screw towards the front of the vehicle.
13. Fully tighten the rear securing screw.

NOTE:  Make sure the throttle position sensor remains correctly engaged during fitting.

14. Reconnect the harness multi-plug.
15. Reconnect the battery ground lead.
16. Refit the battery cover.
17. Carry out engine setting procedure using Jaguar Diagnostic equipment.
