Apply clean power steering fluid to seals. Install taper seal saver tool No. 18G-1259 or equivalent, over serrations on pinion valve.

Enter pinion valve into pinion valve housing. Press ball bearing race fully into position.

Install rack damper assembly. Ensure threaded plug is loose.

Remove grease nipple from plug and centralize rack using rack tool No. 18G-1466 or equivalent. Fig. 19.

Install pinion valve assembly to pinion rack housing. Ensure coupling groove in pinion is in correct position. Install and tighten three self-locking
nuts.

10.

Adjust rack damper pad assembly to obtain correct end float. Tighten locknut to specifications, then install grease fitting.

11.

Install new sealing washer to port in pinion end rack housing.

12.

Tighten line nuts to specifications. To avoid damage to lines, do not overtighten nuts.
