Throttle Valve Cable/Linkage: Adjustments

1.

Install throttle stop adjustment gauge No. JD-131 or equivalent, to throttle stop plate.

2.

Ensure that pointer aligns with idle mark ``1'' on throttle linkage as shown in Fig. 4.

3.

Loosen throttle stop locknut, then fully open throttle and adjust full throttle adjusting screw to align pointer to mark ``M.''

4.

Release throttle linkage and tighten full throttle stop locknut.

5.

Open driver side door and remove A post lower trim cover.

6.

Working in engine compartment, rotate throttle quadrant for access. Install throttle stop/kickdown setting gauge JD-162 or equivalent, on quadrant
and tighten allen screw.

7.

Gently return throttle quadrant against stop.

8.

Working inside vehicle, move footwell carpet from kickdown switch area.

9.

Cut and remove ratchet strap securing kickdown switch harness to side harness.

10.

Disconnect kickdown switch block connector.

11.

Place a thin piece of paper over kickdown switch operating pad. Press accelerator pedal down by hand until resistance is felt (approximately 90%
full throttle).

12.

Adjust kickdown switch up/down until paper can just be released with minimal resistance.

13.

Release throttle pedal and remove paper.
