Recall R493 - AJ16 EGR System - Temporarily Suspended On 1995 MY Vehicles

ISSUE:
Since the introduction of the R493 Emissions Recall, dealers have reported instances of poor drivability and difficulties in orientating oxygen sensors
while completing the recall on 1995 model year XJ6 and XJS vehicles. As a result of potential customer dissatisfaction, in December, Jaguar Cars
instructed dealers to stop conducting R493 on 1995 XJ6 and XJS vehicles.

Following investigations it was quickly identified that a number of 1995 XJS PROMs were found to be incorrectly packaged and dealers were instructed
to resume recall work on 1995 XJS taking particular care to ensure the correct PROMs were fitted.

Investigations have continued into the reason for issues on 1995 XJ6 vehicles and have now identified a build concern during the production of PROMs
used on all 1995 vehicles, as result we have to regretfully instruct dealers to again cease conducting R493 on 1995 XJ5 vehicles.

This issue is only related to PROMs used on 1995 model year vehicles, therefore R493 action on 1996 and 1997 model years is not affected.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

If an owner of a 1995 model year vehicle contacts your dealership to schedule completion of the R493 Recall, inform them that Jaguar Cars has
temporarily suspended this campaign. Information detailing the plan to resume the recall will be forthcoming; and Jaguar Cars will notify owners in
writing at such time.

If the owner indicates they are experiencing a drivability problem and/or the vehicle has failed a state motor vehicle emission test, you should schedule a
service appointment to determine the cause.

If the root cause is determined to be a faulty EGR valve, replace the valve at no cost to the owner and claim for reimbursement under Service Action
S483 (refer to Administration Bulletin 6-82). Any other defective component and the labor to diagnose and repair it is the responsibility of the owner -
unless one of the applicable emission warranties still apply and the component is covered (refer to the Jaguar Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual,
Section A).

No owner should be denied renewal of a state motor vehicle registration as a result of this action. Jaguar Cars has taken the necessary steps to prevent
this from occurring.

WHAT JAGUAR CARS WILL DO:

Jaguar Cars has informed EPA and CARB of our intention to suspend R493 on 1995 model year vehicles and will notify all owners in writing. Dealers
will be provided with a copy of this communication.

Jaguar Cars Parts Department has stopped the supply of all 1995 model year computer chips, PN LNC 1411AA, and LNC 1411/BA. Additionally, we
will shortly provide instruction to all dealers to return these parts to our parts distribution warehouses. Dealers will incur no shipping costs to return these
parts.
