Alpine Navigation System - DVD - driven Diagnosis - Repair
Remove and destroy Bulletin 419-11 amended 11/01. Replace with this Bulletin.

Issue:
This Technical Bulletin has been issued to assist Dealers with fault diagnosis on Alpine DVD based navigation system.
The issues to be covered are:
1.
Initial loading or updating of the map or system software is covered in flowchart NAV 1.
2.
How to use Jaguar "Wipe" disc (JTP 824) to erase the navigation system memory following system lock up, is covered in flow chart NAV 2.
Note:
Once flowchart NAV 2 has been completed, flowchart NAV 1 should be followed.
3.
V8 XJ Series "system guidance continuing while vehicle remains stationary" can be caused by the system being set into demonstration mode. The
procedure to return the system to normal operation is covered in flowchart NAV 3.
4.
XK series "system guidance continuing while vehicle remains stationary", is covered in flowchart NAV 4, and can be attributed to demonstration
mode being set as with V8 XJ series vehicles.
5.
The issue of "vehicle appearing to be more than 30 meters out of position on the map" can be caused by poor antenna connections at either the
antenna fly lead or navigation module and is covered in the workshop procedure following the flowcharts.
Note:
These diagnostic procedures should be carried out prior to any other investigation of faults on Alpine DVD based navigation systems.
