Low Pressure Sensor / Switch: Description and Operation
High-Side Low Pressure Switch
From mid 1986 model year, Jaguar discontinued the thermal limiter and superheat switch and began using a high side low pressure switch. If your unit
has a thermal limiter mounted at the upper left front of the compressor, see Thermal Limiting Fuse. See: Thermal Limiting Fuse
The high side low pressure switch is held closed by pressure in the A / C system. If Freon pressure deteriorates, the switch opens and disengages the
compressor clutch. This is to prevent damage to the compressor.
