Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Mechanical: Service and Repair

CAUTION:  Engine MUST be cold to carry out this procedure.

Auxiliary Air Valve

1.

Slowly remove pressure cap from expansion tank to release any pressure in cooling system.

2.

Refit pressure cap tightly.

3.

Remove hoses from extra air valve.

4.

Remove two screws securing extra air valve to coolant manifold.

5.

Remove extra air valve.

Auxiliary Air Valve

6.

Close idle speed screw completely.

7.

Note position of control piston and immerse expansion bulb in boiling water.  Piston should move smoothly to closed position.  There should be
NO visible opening. 

8.

Cool expansion bulb.  Control valve should open.

9.

Replace valve if operation is not satisfactory.
