Supplementary Air Valve: Testing and Inspection

Supplementary Air Valve

1.

Remove right hand air filter cover and element.

2.

Locate end of supplementary air valve protruding through air filter backing plate.

3.

Be sure A/C is OFF.  Start engine.

4.

Supplementary air valve orifice should have no vacuum. 

5.

Turn A/C ON.  Valve should have vacuum.

6.

If no vacuum, check for battery voltage at green/white lead.

7.

If no voltage, check the circuit. 

8.

If voltage, check black wire for ground.

9.

If black wire grounds, replace valve.
