Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming: Service and Repair
Drivers Airbag

IMPORTANT NOTE: The arming screw cover cannot be closed unless the module is armed and the wheel cannot be turned with the cover open.
Disarming the airbag will prevent the vehicle from being driven.

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Lower tilt steering column to lowest position. Turn steering wheel to straight ahead position.

3.

Remove airbag module cover nut from rear of steering wheel.

4.

Turn steering wheel 180° and remove remaining module nut. Return steering wheel to straight ahead position.

Open arm screw cover.

6.

Using airbag disarming tool No. JD159 or equivalent, turn arming screw counterclockwise 12 turns.

7.

Slide access plate across and lock into position by turning arming screw clockwise two turns.

Remove module and ensure it is disarmed.

9.

Reverse procedure to arm airbag system.
